See you soon. After discovering that our family's favorite local pizza restaurant, the Fireside on Eastern Parkway opposite Price Chopper, seems to be closed (their phone is disconnected -sob!!), I checked out other possibilities on TripAdvisor and selected Pizza Buono, just up Union Street from our house. Thank you to Ellen and the rest of the staff at Canali's. I have also been here for family parties before dinner time. They also have a bar area w/ a few small tables, takeout for all items, and they cater. The loyalty goes both ways - a win for all. This is a great neighborhood restaurant that never disappoints their long time frequent customers. No leftovers on the chicken parm & the carbonara though. Our guests have been here many times and always plan on taking home half of these generous portions. Their sauce is single sourced and authentic southern Italian. Note: many awards for their meatballs - try them. Came to the table in two consecutive deliveries - and sizzling hot. Six different dinners - eggplant parm($19), chicken parm($19), lasagna (1 lb $19), fettuccine carbonara ($19), broiled scallops w/ wine, rice, mixed vegt ($26), & shrimp scampi w/ ziti ($25). This is fine w/ us as we're never in a hurry catching up w/ our friends. Fresh hot bread, chilled salads, & hot soups arrived in 10 minutes. or bottle) and several Peroni draft beers ($5). Our server was Ellen who keeping many tables going during this prime dinner time. Lots of large parties 6, 8, 10+ are the norm on most. We had a reservation for a party of six on Thu 1/23/20 6:00pm. My first time back here in about 10 years. Never once have we experienced a bad meal at Canalis.
#Fireside pizza schenectady ny full
We were too full for coffee or dessert this trip. We indulged by splitting a carafe of red wine with our meal. Waitress offered another bread basket which we happily accepted and took home with our leftovers. My chicken was very juicy and had excellent flavoring/spices. Plenty of sauce and mozzarella cheese on husband's parm. Both were served piping hot and delicious. I ordered the Oven Roasted Chicken and spouse had Chicken Parmesaen. We both had a salad with the house dressing(ALWAYS!) Fresh, warm, delicious, crusty Italian bread basket came with packet butter. We assume to keep entree costs down, the cost was added to salads. The Canalis house salad is a meal in and of itself so it wasn't a concern. Waitress informed us that an upcharge of $1.50 is now added to all salads. Ice waters were at the table as soon as we sat. They know the specials, the food, recommendations, the bar, every in and out. Waitresses at Canalis have always been top-notch. obvious the heat had just tecently been turned on once staff had come in. We were seated immediately in the front room to the right. Our recent visit was after a show at Proctors on a Sunday afternoon. We have been eating at Canalis for almost 40 years.
